Police Cracking Down on ATV Riders

Complaints of bikes operating on Davidson Mill Road and in the rear of the Ireland Brook development.

South Brunswick Police are conducting a crackdown on individuals riding dirt bikes and ATVs after numerous complaints about the vehicles operating in the eastern portion of town.

Residents have complained about the vehicles operating on Davidson Mill Road along high tension lines, and in the rear of the Ireland Brook development. Police are asking for voluntary compliance, but riders caught violating the law will face zero tolerance enforcement, according to police.

in an ATV accident near Davidson Mill Road. The victim was riding on an ATV trail with two friends, who were on separate ATV's, police said. The victim then came across a large puddle of water on the trail and apparently lost control of his vehicle after hitting the puddle, causing the ATV to flip over.

Violators are subject to a fine of up to $1,000 and their vehicles could be impounded. South Brunswick Township's ordinance 88-21 prohibits the use of these ATV’s and bikes. 

Sec. 88-21. - Prohibited acts. 
It shall be unlawful for any person to operate any motorized vehicle, including motorcycles, snowmobiles, mopeds, mini-bikes, trail bikes, motor scooters, go-carts, motorized skateboards, all-terrain vehicles (ATV's) and dune buggies or any other vehicle in the class known as recreational vehicles on any property or under any circumstances described in section 88-22.
