Police Again Urge Residents to Lock their Vehicles After Another String of Break-Ins

Police said 12 cars were broken into last night in the eastern section of South Brunswick.

South Brunswick Police are again urging residents to lock their vehicles after another string of car burglaries occurred last night.

Police reported that at least 12 vehicles were entered and ransacked overnight in the eastern section of the South Brunswick. The cars were all parked in the street or driveways of residences on Liberty Drive, Weatherhill Way, Renk Farm Drive, and Deerfield Trail.

All of the vehicles that were burglarized were left unlocked and the suspect appeared very selective in the loot they took, police said. Some vehicle owners reported to police that nothing was stolen, while others reported only change was taken.  Other vehicle owners reported valuable items such as GPS and laptops stolen.

Last weekend, police said 12 residents reported that someone entered their vehicles and stole change and money. The break-ins all took place during the night of April 23 into the morning of April 24 on Brook Drive East and Fairfield Road in the Kingston section of the township.

South Brunswick Police spokesman Sgt. Jim Ryan said the Kingston break-ins and last night's break-ins were similar enough to suggest a link between the two.

Police are asking all residents to make sure they secure their vehicles at night. Anyone with information is asked to call South Brunswick Police at 732-329-4646.
