UPDATE: Route 1 Reopened After Fatal Crash

Both sides of Route 1 experiencing heavy traffic backup.

Route 1 has been reopened following a fatal motor vehicle crash Friday morning.

South Brunswick Police said both the north and south bound sides of Route 1 are currently experiencing four to five mile traffic backups.

Work is still ongoing to determine the cause of the crash as investigators reconstruct the accident. Police confirmed that a male died in the collision.
Further information will be released mid-day Friday.

7:45 a.m.

One person died early this morning following a motor vehicle crash on Route 1 at the intersection of Blackhorse Lane.

The crash was reported at 4:19 a.m. involving a car and a tractor trailer, according to police. The northbound lanes of the roadway were shut down as officers investigated the incident.

Heavy delays are expected throughout the morning rush hour.

No further information was immediately available.
