Monmouth Junction Man Issued Summons in Tuesday Accident with School Bus

Six students and a bus driver sustained minor non-life threatening injuries.

A Monmouth Junction man was issued a traffic summons following in Franklin Township.

Henry Thompson, 25, received a summons from Franklin Police for an unsafe lane change after his vehicle collided with a late bus from Franklin Township Middle School, according to Franklin Police Sgt. Phillip Rizzo.

At 4:20 p.m., Thompson was headed southbound on Route 27 near Finnegans Lane when he attempted to make a left-hand turn into a business, and crossed in front of the path of the bus causing a collision, according to police.

Thompson and his passenger, a 24-year-old female from North Brunswick, were taken to an area hospital with minor injuries.

The bus driver and six students were also taken to an area hospital with minor non-life threatening injuries. The students on the bus ranged in age from 12 to 14-years-old.

EMS units from South Brunswick, Kendall Park, Millstone, and Kingston responded, as did the Franklin Fire Department.
