Major Road Closed After Oil Truck Flips Over

Driver suffered non-life threatening injuries after truck hit utility pole.

Major Road will be closed for an undetermined period of time Monday morning after an accident involving an oil truck on the roadway.

At about 8:20 a.m., the truck, which was carrying home heating oil, hit a utility pole causing it to flip over near 63 Major Road. Hazmat teams and PSE&G are currently working at the scene of the crash.

The driver suffered non-life threateneing injuries and was transported to the hospital, police said.

Residents in the area of the crash lost power for about 10 minutes while the utility pole was replaced by PSE&G. Anyone still experiencing a power outage should call PSE&G at 800-436-7734.

Major Road was expected to be closed between Route 1 and North Umberland Way for an extended period of time.

I was on my mini school bus, 89 and my bus and i saw the guy fall out the truck. it was so scary and we both started to cry.

I hope that the driver has a speedy recovery. I'm sure that all the twists and turns on Major Road didn't help and the road conditions this morning were bad. You have to slow down a little and not be in a hurry on Major Road. Also, at over three dollars a gallon for home heating oil, I would have cried too.
