Major Road Closed After Oil Truck Flips Over

Driver suffered non-life threatening injuries after truck hit utility pole.

Major Road will be closed for an undetermined period of time Monday morning after an accident involving an oil truck on the roadway.

At about 8:20 a.m., the truck, which was carrying home heating oil, hit a utility pole causing it to flip over near 63 Major Road. Hazmat teams and PSE&G are currently working at the scene of the crash.

The driver suffered non-life threateneing injuries and was transported to the hospital, police said.

Residents in the area of the crash lost power for about 10 minutes while the utility pole was replaced by PSE&G. Anyone still experiencing a power outage should call PSE&G at 800-436-7734.

Major Road was expected to be closed between Route 1 and North Umberland Way for an extended period of time.
