Kendall Park Man Among Five Suspects Indicted for Murder

A Kendall Park man was among five suspects indicted yesterday by a Middlesex County Grand Jury in connection with the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old New Brunswick man last year. 

Zaid Joseph, 20, of Kendall Park, was charged with murder, conspiracy, armed robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes. Also indicted on the same charges were Michael Bailey, 21, and Dawonne Cooper, 22, both of New Brunswick; Jeffrey Andre Cook, 19, and Larry Pena, 19, both of Franklin Township, for their roles in the fatal shooting of Joshua Zhou, 19, on Sept. 27.

Zhou was shot and killed in a Robinson Street basement on the evening of Sept. 27, 2012, in what authorities believed was a targeted robbery attempt. He was shot multiple times in the torso and pronounced dead at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital that same night.

Four residents of the Robinson Street house where Zhou was killed were charged shortly after his death with possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, police said. Police did not identify the four residents charged in the crime.
