Update: Some South Brunswick Roads Impassable Due to Freezing Rain

Motorists urged to be aware of slick driving conditions.

South Brunswick Police have reported numerous motor vehicle crashes Friday morning due to slippery roads caused by freezing rain.

Police said many roads on the east side of town are impassable until road crews can add salt.

The National Weather Service issued a freezing rain advisory through 11 a.m. today. A mix of rain and sleet with a light glaze of ice has caused slick roadways around the region.

Drivers are urged to be aware of black ice, especially on bridges and overpasses. Temperatures will remain in the upper 20s to low 30s through the morning, before warming up to a high of 43 degrees later Friday.

The forecast for the remainder of Friday calls for mostly cloudy skies with a chance of rain and an overnight low of 34 degrees.
