Former Township Resident Charged Again in Home Thefts

Kelly Murolo alleged to have stolen a safe and two children's video game systems from a township home.

A former resident of Kendall Park now residing in Edison was charged earlier this week in connection with a home burglary in the township.

Kelly Murolo, 34, was charged with stealing a safe and two video game systems from a Kendall Park home Tuesday afternoon. This was the second time since the summer Murolo was charged with stealing items from township homes.

On Tuesday, police responded to a Kendall Park home after the homeowner found the residence had been ransacked. The resident said their elementary age child’s Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360 game system and Xbox games were stolen, along with a safe that was taken from the master bedroom. Games that were stolen included circus games, DJ Hero, Guitar Hero and others, police said.

Det. Ken Herman was able to follow leads that identified Murolo as a possible suspect, according to police. Officers then recovered the stolen goods at various retailers in Edison where Murolo is alleged to have sold the items, according to police.

Murolo was charged with theft and criminal mischief.

In July, Murolo was charged with three counts of theft from the homes of friends, in addition to stealing school property from Constable Elementary School, according to police.

Earlier this year in April, Murolo went to the home of a family friend on Aldrich and allegedly asked to go upstairs to look for her son’s missing iPod, police said. After Murolo left the residence, $2,600 in jewelry, including a wedding ring, was reported missing from the master bedroom, according to police.

A few months later in June, Murolo allegedly went to another family friend’s home on Villanova Drive and asked to see how the family painted their son’s upstairs bedroom, according to police. After Murolo left the home, the residents reported $50 in cash had been taken from their daughter’s bedroom and $8,000 in jewelry was missing from the master bedroom, police said.

Officers were able to recover one of the stolen pieces of jewelry at JR Gold Buyers in Metuchen, where a store employee identified Murolo as the woman who had sold the jewelry, according to police.

In June, Murolo also allegedly entered Constable Elementary School after hours and stole school property, police said.

Following her most recent arrest, Murolo was processed and released on a summons pending her first court appearance.
