Fordham Court Home Damaged, Vehicle Destroyed in Fire

No injuries were suffered after a Hummer SUV caught fire due to an unknown cause.

A vehicle fire that erupted due to unknown causes damaged a Fordham Court home and destroyed a Hummer SUV last night.

Shortly before 9 p.m. Thursday, a resident of Fordham Court told police that he had just gotten home from the grocery store at about 8:45 p.m., when he heard his wife and daughter yelling. The man looked out of an upstairs window and saw his 2003 Hummer on fire.

Units from South Brunswick Police and the Kendall Park Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene to find the vehicle fully engulfed in flames.  Also responding to the scene were the Monmouth Junction and Kingston fire departments, along with the Kendall Park First Aid and Rescue Squad.

Firefighters were able to rapidly bring the blaze under control, limiting the damage to the residence. The fire ended up damaging only the garage and front portion of the home, police said.
