Deans Pond Crossing Fire Displaces Family

Home suffers significant smoke damage.

A Deans Pond Crossing family was displaced from their home Thursday evening in a blaze that began in the dryer before spreading to other parts of the house.

The fire was reported at 7:20 p.m. at 9 Lexington Road in the development. First responders arrived to find the fire had spread from the laundry room to the kitchen of the home.

Firefighters were able to contain the blaze, but the house suffered significant smoke damage. No injuries were reported, but the homeowner and her teenage son were displaced and are currently staying with friends, according to South Brunswick Police spokesman Sgt. Jim Ryan.

The Monmouth Junction, Kendall Park and Kingston Volunteer Fire companies responded to the call, as did the Monmouth Junction and Kendall Park rescue squads.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation by the South Brunswick Fire Safety Bureau.
