Burglary Suspect Caught After Foot Chase in Brunswick Acres

Suspect fled across Finnegans Lane before being caught in a strip mall.

Police apprehended a suspicious male yesterday evening after the man fled from officers in the Brunswick Acres neighborhood.

Following a rash of burglaries in the township in recent days, police added increased patrols to the area. At around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, Officer George Morgan was on patrol on Karen Street when he spotted a suspicious person.

As the officer approached the male to question him, the suspect ran down Karen Street and onto Kathy Street before heading across Finnegans Lane. Morgan was able to catch the suspect behind a strip mall off Finnegans Lane, police said.

On Dec. 27, a burglary occurred on Raleigh Road between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. The suspects cut a screen on a front window and then pried open the lock to gain entry into the residence. The burglars made off with jewelry, several Christmas presents and electronics, police said.

In another incident on Henderson Road, the suspect broke in through a rear basement window shortly before 6:30 p.m. The suspect attempted to go up to the first floor of the home from the basement, but the door was locked and the residents were home at the time, police said. 

A resident got up to go to the basement door, which caused suspect to run out the basement door and flee towards Vincent Avenue.

Police are looking for anyone who may have seen a suspicious vehicle on Raleigh Road or surrounding neighborhoods off of New Road last week. Authorities are also seeking anyone who saw suspicious people walking or running in the Brunswick Acres Development between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. Dec. 27.
