Burglars Strike Again Over Weekend

Burglaries reported on Stillwell Road and Providence Boulevard on Saturday.

South Brunswick Police are investigating a series of burglaries on Saturday that matched the pattern of break-ins that hit the area over the past few weeks.

Homes on Stillwell Road near Emerald Road and on Providence Boulevard were burglarized on Saturday, which mirrored an ongoing pattern of break-ins in the Kendall Park area since December.

The suspects appear to be targeting homes that are dark and appear vacant during the evening hours, according to police. The suspects have been forcing open a window or sliding door to gain entry in most of the incidents. The suspects have typically ransacked the master bedroom of the homes looking for jewelry, police said.

Since December, 13 burglaries have been reported in Kendall Park, including a holiday burglary where Christmas presents were stolen from a township home. The most recent break-in occurred on Wednesday with homes on Calvin Road, Starling Road, and Roberts Street hit between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Police said the burglaries appear to be targeting an area west of Route 1 between Finnegans Lane and Gateway Boulevard. The homes that were broken into were all dark and appeared to be vacant at the time of the burglary, police said.

In an incident on Raleigh Road last month, the suspects cut a screen on a front window and then pried open the lock to gain entry into the residence. The burglars made off with jewelry, several Christmas presents and electronics, police said.

In another break-in on Henderson Road on Dec. 27, the suspect broke in through a rear basement window shortly before 6:30 p.m. The suspect attempted to go up to the first floor of the home from the basement, but the door was locked and the residents were home at the time, police said.

A resident got up to go to the basement door, which caused suspect to run from the home and flee towards Vincent Avenue.

Police suggest residents leave porch lights on and ask anyone who sees unusual activity in their neighborhood to call 732-329-4646.

“We need the public’s assistance with catching these suspects," said Chief Raymond Hayducka. "We have added extra patrols to the area which has resulted in a number of arrests, but none of which we believe are connected to the burglaries. We need residents in the Kendall park section to be alert especially between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m.”
