Police urge residents to lock vehicles after unlocked cars were stolen.

South Brunswick Police are reporting a string of motor vehicle thefts that began on Wednesday. Since the middle of the week, there have been five reported thefts from unlocked cars in Monmouth Junction and Dayton, according to police.

In two of the incidents, the suspects located keys and stole the vehicles, including a 2007 Gold Saturn Ion and a 2011 Black Mercedes Benz. Police urge residents to make sure their vehicles are locked at night.

South Brunswick Police are investigating a series of thefts that occurred at Extra Space Storage on Route 1. A customer with a storage unit told police he checked on his storage locker this week and found it ransacked.

The victim told officers that his lock was still on the storage locker, but it had been turned around backwards. Missing from the storage unit was a flat screen television and golf clubs.
