Letter: South Brunswick Losing Two Longtime Volunteers

Muriel Leonard, President Oak Woods Board of Trustees

Dean and Sandy Behrend are moving to Tampa!

This is a very great loss to South Brunswick Township and to all their friends.  Sandy has been a teacher and has served on the Arts Commission and Dean has worked tirelessly on the Board of South Brunswick Community Development Corporation for 17 years.  For those of you who may not know, SBCDC has managed Charleston Place and sponsored Oak Woods Senior Residence.

These facilities house income eligible seniors and disabled persons.  For the past six years Dean has been the President of the Board of Directors of Charleston Place, a facility that is highly regarded by NJ State USDA, HUD and Township officials for its’ excellence.

In addition, Dean has served as Fire Commissioner for fire District #1, where he has served since 1967 when he was one of the founding members.

Dean has shown us how to leave the world a little better than he found it.
