American Cancer Society Bark For Life on Oct 19, 2013

The American Cancer Society invites everyone to make a difference in the fight against cancer; especially dogs and those who love them. Dogs of all ages, colors, shapes and sizes are invited to bring their owners to the American Cancer Society’s upcoming event “Bark for Life of Mercer County” on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Mercer County Park, West Windsor, New Jersey.

Bark for Life is a non-competitive 5-K walk event and festival designed for dogs and their families to aid in the fight against cancer. Although this is a “dog-friendly” event, all members of the community - whether you’re a dog owner or not - are welcome to join in on the fun while supporting the mission of the American Cancer Society. “Bark” participants raise funds and awareness to help save lives and create a world with more birthdays by helping people stay well, get well, find cures and fight back. Donations collected at Bark For Life forward the battle against ALL types of cancer; funding research, patient and family services, and educational disease prevention programs.

In addition to showing support of human cancer survivors and remembering loved ones lost to this devastating disease, Bark For Life also celebrates our four-legged companions and caregivers who give unconditional love during life’s most challenging times.

People and canines from the entire region are encouraged to take part, as this will be the final New Jersey based Bark For Life for the year 2013. The event will take place on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Mercer County Park/West End, 334 South Post Road, West Windsor, NJ 08550. It will happen rain or shine: registration tent opens at 9 am, the walk begins at 10 am, and festivities are scheduled from 10:45 am until 2 pm.

“Bark” will feature entertainment, games and contests for dogs and humans alike. “Paw-friendly” activities include a Pet Costume Parade, where a prize will be awarded to the dog wearing the best costume. The Princeton Dog Training Club will present an “agility demonstration”.  D.J. Bobby LaFauci will provide music for the walkers. Sponsors and vendors will be set-up at the event, including Kona Ice, Got Antler, Golden Grange Kennels, Origami Owl, Serina’s Delights, and Bundle of Paws Photography. Participants and dogs are welcome to remain after the event to enjoy the day at Mercer County Park.
