Obit: Jeffrey A. Szatkowski

Szatkowski died on Saturday at the age of 17.

Jeffrey A. Szatkowski Jr. died tragically from an automobile accident on Sunday, December 1, 2013 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was 17. The love of his life, Nicole Surace, also passed in the accident.

Born in 1996, he was a lifelong resident of Spotswood.

A senior at Spotswood High School, he loved sports and the outdoors. He proudly wore the number 7 in football and baseball, and enjoyed kayaking, fishing, dirt-biking, and snowboarding with his brother, Ryan. He was full of life and energy. He was selected to the Heroes and Cool Kids program, an anti-bullying program at Spotswood High School. He was a true role model and he looked out for everyone.

Jeffrey was predeceased by his grandfather, Robert Lang.

Surviving are his parents, Jeffrey and Kimberly Szatkowski; a brother, Ryan; his grandparents, Bernard and Irene Szatkowski of Morgan and Suzanne Lang of Helmetta, his aunts and uncles, Kelly and Chris Hricko of Fairfield, Ronnie and Tracy Szatkowski of Arizona, and Kevin and Jennifer Szatkowski of Sayreville; 6 cousins, Ashley, Bethaney, Madison, Connor, Ava, and Lila; and the "Fab 5", Nick Marinelli, Mike McCloskey, C.J. O'Connor, and Brian Thuring; and many, many more close friends and teammates.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 5 at The Brunswick Memorial Home, 454 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick. Following the service, Jeffrey will be laid to rest alongside Nicole at Holy Cross Burial Park on Cranbury Road in South Brunswick.
