Obit: Irene Castoria

Castoria moved to East Brunswick 48 years ago.

Irene Orlando Castoria died Monday, Dec. 30, 2013 at home.  She was 81.

Born in the Bronx, NY, she resided in Brooklyn before moving to East Brunswick 48 years ago.

Prior to her retirement, she was a travel agent with her husband at A Better Trip Travel in Matawan, where she worked for over 20 years.

She was a daily communicant of Immaculate Conception RC Church, Spotswood.  She was devoted to the Blessed Mother and was a member of the parish Rosary Society.

She traveled the world with her husband of 58 years; she loved celebrating and spending time with her family and friends.

Surviving are her husband, Salvatore Castoria; a son, Vincent of East Brunswick; two daughters, Hope Anne and her husband Peter Lo Galbo of Hillsdale, and Margaret Castoria of Somerset; a sister, Margaret Mc Laughlin of Yardley, PA; a brother in law Vinny and his wife Nina Castoria of Massapequa Park, NY; and two grandchildren, Michael and Elizabeth.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. in the Rezem Funeral Home, 457 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick, followed by a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.  

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday 7-9 p.m., and Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.  Memorial contributions may be made to either Immaculate Conception Church-Capital Campaign for Marian Shrine, 18 South Street, Spotswood, NJ  08884, or The Challah Fund c/o Dr. Michael Nissenblatt, J-2 Briar Hill Court, East Brunswick, NJ 08816.
