Help Local Families in Need by Donating to Weight Watchers

Weight Watchers will be hosting a "Lose For Good" open house on Saturday to raise food for the South Brunswick Food Pantry.

With empty shelves and a record high number of families in need of assistance, the South Brunswick Food Pantry will be getting a helping hand from Weight Watchers on Saturday.

Weight Watchers in East Brunswick will be hosting a "Lose For Good" open house event from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at their location on Route 18. The event will feature a special one-day only offer, prizes, refreshments, recipes and more.

"Weight Watchers will be doing a large food drive Saturday in conjunction with a weeklong food drive, which they agreed to donate to us instead of a generic Middlesex County drive," said Social Services Director LouAnne Wolf.

In addition, has joined in the efforts to help the pantry. On Sept. 22 the retail women's clothing store will be having special events all day and 15 percent of total sales will also be donated to the pantry to purchase much needed food.

In July, . That number was eclipsed in August, as 81 families sought assistance from the pantry.

According to a  28 percent of Middlesex County residents are not making enough money to meet the needs of their families. An Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed (ALICE) household is considered one that is above the poverty level, but is below a basic cost of living threshold. 

Weight Watchers is located at 300 State Route 18, in East Brunswick. Annie sez is located at 597 State Route 18 in East Brunswick.

  • Canned Coffee
  • Canned Vegetables
  • Peanut Butter and Jelly
  • Healthy snack foods
  • Canned fruits in light syrup
  • Boxed Milk
  • Boxed Potatoes
  • Boxed Rices/Quinoa/Couscous
  • Canned Tomatoes
  • Pancake Mix and Syrup
  • Canned chicken, water packed tuna, beef stew and chili
  • Chef Boyardee Pastas
  • Water and Juices
