SBPAL football opening weekend highlights weekend events in and around South Brunswick.

Saturday

Come cheer on the mighty Vikings and support a good cause. SBPAL's Football teams have their home openers this weekend. Fans in attendance are encouraged to please help those families suffering hardship by bringing nonperishable food items.  All donations will go to the SB Food Pantry, which is in dire need of supplies.  Specifically, they need:

  • Snack Foods- graham crackers, low-fat sugar items or granola bars, cookies, crackers, pretzels, nuts, raisins or dried fruit
  • Canned coffee, boxed rice, potatoes, mac and cheese, oatmeal, peanut butter and jelly
  • Hearty soups, canned vegetables (corn, mixed, and greens such as peas or greens)

Children First Montessori has scheduled an OPEN HOUSE at its North Brunswick location at 35 Lincoln Place, North Brunswick 08902 on Saturday, Aug. 25. You can also get up to $100 off for next three months if you sign up during the open house. School has a price match policy as well. So, you are not expected to pay more than other competitors.

Rutgers Master Gardeners of Middlesex County invite the public to visit their Butterfly House at the EARTH Center in Davidson’s Mill Pond Park, 42 Riva Avenue, South Brunswick, NJ. It will be open for the public's enjoyment every Saturday in June, July and August from 10 a.m. to noon. The butterfly house can be educational and fun for the entire family. Expanded in the 2011, the “hoop house” is filled with plants that feed and shelter butterflies and larvae native to New Jersey. The enclosed conditions allow visitors to take an up close look at these showy insects, learn more about their host plants and attract them to the home garden. Interested children will be armed with nets and invited to capture more butterflies for the house. There is no charge, unless you wish to make a donation. Come often as the MGs would love to have you.
