Letter: New BOE Member Thanks South Brunswick

Azra Baig, member of South Brunswick Board of Education

As the newly elected South Brunswick Board of Education member, I would like to congratulate fellow South Brunswick Board of Education candidates, incumbants Harry Delgado and Daniel Boyle, on their election.

I would also like to acknowledge outgoing member, Vice President of the Board of Education, Ms. Deborah Taylor, for all her hard work...your dedication will be missed.  I would like to first thank God for all his blessings.

I am truly humbled by the amount of support I have had, which began about two years ago when in a span of approximately a week, Arif Patel and Jake Rodriguez, two prominent individuals in South Brunswick, encouraged me to run for this position.

From then until now I have learned so much more about the South Brunswick School District and have met so many wonderful people along the way. I am sincerely grateful and have so many people to thank.

First I would like to thank my family, especially my parents, husband Wasim and my two daughters Sunna and Samia; without their support and sacrifice this would not be possible.

Thank you to all the people that voted for me and to the individuals that helped spread the word about my campaign by distributing flyers and business cards, by putting up lawn signs, writing letters, sending emails, making phone calls, sharing posts, and encouraging others to go out and vote.

I am thankful for the support from my friends from Cleveland, OH, Highland High School Graduates, CWRU Alumni, Nursing colleagues from UMCP and the school district, South Brunswick school parents and neighbors, the congregation at the Islamic Society of Central Jersey, members of the Indo-American Cultural Foundation of Central Jersey, the Police Athletic League, members of NYSC, and numerous political and community organizations, my soccer and bokwa family, and so many other friends and relatives.

A special shout out to certain individuals that I admire and who inspire me in many ways. Much love and respect to my mom-Surayya Ahmed, Lori Berman, Atiya Aftab, Giancarla Pozzo and Heba Macksoud.

I am honored to serve on the Board of Education and look forward to taking on the responsibility and working with the rest of the Board of Education members to help make the best decisions for the students of the South Brunswick School District.

Sincerely,

Ms. Azra Baig
