Over 47,000 servicemen and women have been injured in the recent military conflicts. In addition to the physical wounds, it is estimated as many as 400,000 service members live with the invisible wounds of war including combat-related stress, major depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Another 320,000 are believed to have experienced a traumatic brain injury while on deployment.

WWP’s 18 programs and services are uniquely structured to nurture the mind and body, and encourage economic empowerment and engagement.

In its inaugural year, the Trenton Half Marathon helped seven local charities raise more than $47,000 for their causes. Drawing nearly 3,000 participants in 2012, the Trenton Half Marathon, 10K and Kids Run will look to draw approximately 5,000 participants in 2013.

“Our goal is to put on a great event. In doing so, we are afforded the opportunity to partner with a number of great charities, such as the Wounded Warrior Project. If we can continue to grow and help the organizations at the same time, it is a win for everyone,” said Brian Barry, Event Director.
