Yesterday I heard a very disturbing story. A 20 year old young woman told her parents she was a lesbian. Their response was to tell her she was no longer welcome in their house.
Every day in this country, people reject their children for being gay. They throw them out of the house, or try to convince them they are not actually gay, or their parents try to "make" them heterosexual or they cut them off completely. I wonder..why?
Nothing is more important than your children -- not your religion, not your prejudices, not your world viewpoint. Your children are more important than who they are attracted to and who you are attracted to. They are more important than politics and laws.
You may not like that your child is gay. It may make you uncomfortable. It may go against everything you believe. But embrace your children for who they are. If they are gay, they are already living in a world where not everyone wants to be around them. You are their safe place, no matter how old they are. Accept them, love them, and make them feel welcome.
You are EXTREMELY WRONG when you say nothing is more important than your children. YES, religion IS! NOTHING is more important than your eternal soul fate. NOTHING! This world;d is just a flicker in time, family or not. The writer fails to mention the responsibility given to a parent to raise a moral, good kid. They ARE HELD ACCOUNTABLE before God! So it is not just a matter of "throwing them out", as the faithless liberal writes. It is ABOUT THE PARENTS AND THE CHILD'S ETERNAL LIFE, WHICH IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN ANYTHING, even if it upsets normalphobic liberals!
