South Brunswick Vets Come Through for Kids in Need

American Legion raises $1,000 for Toys for Tots

American Legion Post 401 in South Brunswick recently completed its most successful Toys for Tots drive ever by collecting over $1,000 in toy donations.

“The response from our members and the community was just terrific,” said Gary Cooper, Post commander. “We asked that everyone coming to our Post during the holidays bring donations with them, and did they ever.”

This year marks the 66th year the program has run, with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Program distributing more than 400 million toys to more than 188 million needy children. Each year this program grows both in drop-off locations, toys donated, and children receiving toys.

“The success of this program depended on the generosity of our members and community,” Cooper added. “Through this program, the Post 401 family and the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves aim to unite all members of our community in a common cause: that of giving some happiness and hope to less fortunate children in our area.”
