Franklin High Cheerleaders Raising Funds for National Competition

The team has set up a fundraising campaign on GoFundMe.com.

Franklin High School's varsity cheerleaders are riding high after recently qualifying as UCA Regional Champions, and now they are asking the community to help get them to a national competition in Florida in February.

The squad has set up a GoFundMe page to accept donations to put toward the cost of their trip to the UCA National Competition in Orlando, Fla. As of Dec. 11, they had raised $700 of their $15,000 goal.

GoFundMe.com is a crowdfunding website that allows people to raise money for a number of causes and projects, many of which are personal.

"As a school, (we) have worked hard over the past few years to continuously build our cheer program, creating teams that are worthy of competing with the best in the Nation," said campaign creator Katie Van Why on the GoFundMe page. "The girls also work hard within the community to inspire future cheerleaders, participate in breast cancer walks, and are all wonderful student athletes. They have worked hard to deserve such an honor, as they are leaders both on and off the competition mat."
