American Legion Post 401 Receives National Post Excellence Award

South Brunswick VFW honored for membership participation, youth activities, community service, and support to veterans and U.S. troops.

At the state meeting of the American Legion Department of New Jersey, South Brunswick's Lt. John Farnkopf American Legion Post 401 was one of only two posts in the state to be presented with a certificate in Recognition of Post Excellence from National Commander Jim Koutz. 

The award is presented to posts that show excellence in membership participation, youth activities, community service, and support to veterans and U.S. troops.

Presenting the award to Gary Cooper commander of Post 401, was Gene O’Grady, past state commander for 2013.

The citation notes the Post “has demonstrated excellence in serving their community above and beyond all expectations. In keeping with the aims of our preamble, this post and its members have displayed exemplary efforts through their devotion to mutual helpfulness. 

This post’s exemplary efforts deserve recognition for their support of the programs and activities of the American Legion, all the while, being an asset in their community. Their allegiance to helping veterans is exemplary and they should be commended for their efforts towards post excellence. The American Legion presents this certificate in appreciation to this post’s unselfish duty, devotion, and compassion towards their fellow men and women.”
