South Brunswick Hosting Domestic Violence Walk

Walk scheduled for Oct. 13 will extend from the township municipal building to South Brunswick High School.

The South Brunswick Domestic Violence Task Force will hold its “Walk Together” event on Oct. 13 at 8 a.m. at the South Brunswick Municipal Building.

The walk serves to draw awareness to the dangers of domestic violence, as October is domestic violence awareness month. In 2010, there were over 74,000 domestic violence offenses reported to New Jersey departments, with 38 of them culminating in a murder, police said.

According to recent statistics, there is one act of domestic violence every seven minutes and five seconds in New Jersey, which adds up to at least eight every hour.
