SB Parent Academy Workshop: "Test Anxiety and the Use of Humor" Feb. 20

SBPA presents: Test Anxiety and the Use of Humor:  “Your Funny Bone’s Connected to Your … Test Score!” on Wednesday, February 20, 2014. While it's not uncommon for most people to feel a little nervous and stressed before a test; for some, this anxiety becomes more intense and can be so strong that it interferes with concentration and undermines performance. This workshop discusses this anxiety and the use of humor in creating a more lighthearted perspective in dealing with it. In addition, it suggests how to view stressful events like testing as 'challenges'  rather than ‘threats’, making them seem less worrisome and more positive.

The workshop will take place in the cafeteria at Crossroads North Middle School, 635 Georges Road, and will run from 7:00-8:30 pm.  As with most SBPA workshops, childcare will be provided.  Interested parties can register online by visiting the District's Web site, www.sbschools.org and clicking the Parent Academy link under Quick links or by emailing sbpa@sbparents.org.  If you are emailing your registration, be sure to include your name, telephone number, email address and your child’s grade.

The South Brunswick Municipal Alliance, Every Parent Influences Children (EPIC) and the South Brunswick School District have partnered to offer a series of workshops under the umbrella of the South Brunswick Parent Academy (SBPA). EPIC is a non-profit organization whose programming is funded in South Brunswick by the South Brunswick Board of Education and a grant from the South Brunswick Municipal Alliance, as part of the NJ Governor’s Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse.
