About one-third of South Brunswick is still without power Sunday evening as work continues on recovery from Saturday's storm, which caused numerous downed trees throughout the township. PSE&G said 150 crews are working to restore power for an estimated 309,000 throughout the state. There has been no firm estimate for when full power will be restored to South Brunswick, with outages for some areas possibly lasting until Wednesday.

A travel advisory has been issued by South Brunswick Police due to traffic light outages in multiple areas, causing extensive delays. Motorists are urged to stay off the roads if possible. Police are warning of traffic backups in the following areas:

  • Route 1 between Major Road and Ridge Road. There is no east/west travel and long delays are being reported along the four-mile stretch.
  • Route 27 between New Road and Academy Street. Traffic signals are not operational and extensive delays are expected, according to police.

Additional officers have been placed at problem areas to assist with traffic flow.

All activities at the South Brunswick Senior Center have been cancelled for Monday and there will be no senior transportation available.
