South Brunswick Township Asks for Patience with Waste Collection

Hurricane Irene generated an overwhelming amount of waste

South Brunswick Township is asking residents to be patient with trash collection due to the overwhelming amount of waste from Hurricane Irene, which was exacerbated by the Labor Day holiday.

Materials will be collected as soon as possible, township officials said.

Unlimited quantities of waste is being accepted. Items should be bagged and larger items must be cut to 4-foot lengths and taped or tied in bundles no heavier than 50 pounds.

Furniture can go out 'as is.'  Any glass or mirrors must be taped with big 'X" to hold broken glass in place when put into the garbage truck.

At multi-family homes where garbage is collected in dumpsters, residents should follow the preparation instructions written above.   Items such as furniture should be placed inside the dumpster enclosure or at an area specifically designated by your development.

Do not place bulk items inside the dumpster, as this will not allow enough room for normal household trash.
