South Brunswick Memorial Day Planner

Holiday closings and schedule.

Memorial Day Remembrance Services will be held on the front lawn at the Lt. John Farnkopf American Legion Post 401, 148 Major Rd, Monmouth Junction, on Monday, May 27, at 11 a.m.  

Gary Cooper, post commander, and Barbara Buhl, auxiliary president, will present the ceremonial wreath which honors those who gave their lives in military service to the United States.

It will also mark the Post’s 65th birthday. Music will be provided by the South Brunswick High School Band.  Refreshments will be served following the ceremony.

South Brunswick residents are reminded that no recycling or garbage will be collected on the Memorial Day holiday.

Monday’s Holiday Closings

Memorial Day is observed as both a state and federal holiday.

State and local government offices, as well as courts, will be closed. Post offices will be closed. No regular mail will be delivered. Stock and financial markets, as well as banks will be closed. Schools will be closed. NJ Transit trains will operate on a weekend/major holiday schedule. Hudson-Bergen Light Rail will operate on a weekend schedule while the Newark Light Rail will operate on a Saturday schedule. River Line will operate on a Sunday schedule.
