Snow Causing Hazardous Road Conditions in South Brunswick

A utility pole was struck by a car causing a brief power outage in the at Route 535 and Deans Rhode Hall Road area.

Hazardous road conditions are causing problems throughout South Brunswick as a result of the snow and ice mixture that continues to fall this morning.

Though all township roads are passable, motorists are urged to use extra caution, as there have been four car accidents reported by South Brunswick Police as a result of the snow.

An auto accident at Route 535 and Deans Rhode Hall Road split a utility pole early this morning and caused a power outage in the area. Power has since been restored by PSE&G. There were no serious injuries suffered in any of the accidents, according to police.

The National Weather Service projected the snow to stop by noon today, with conditions expected to improve later in the afternoon. Saturday's forecast calls for temperatures to hit a high of 36 and a low of 25. Sunday calls for highs in the upper 30s. Temperatures are expected to warm up on Monday with a rise to the low 50s, with the forecast also calling for rain.

The South Brunswick Township Department of Parks and Recreation Youth Basketball program was cancelled for today. The South Brunswick Board of Education also cancelled all activities at the schools for Saturday morning.
