Severe Thunderstorms Predicted Through Tuesday Evening

The storms could produce heavy rain, localized flooding, hail and lightning.

The National Weather Service has issued a weather advisory for thunderstorms throughout Tuesday evening. The forecast is calling for a cold front to cut into today's high temperatures, which could produce several severe thunderstorms in the area.

The storms are predicted to yield heavy rain, which could produce localized flooding. South Brunswick residents are advised to be aware of the potential for flooding on areas of Route 1 and local side streets.

The NWS also warns of the possibility for "damaging lightning strikes" and large hail.

The storms are expected to develop around 7 p.m., according to the NWS. The South Brunswick Office of Emergency Management advises residents to stay alert to weather conditions throughout the evening, especially if engaging in outdoor activities.
