Free Computer Classes for Jobless at SBPL

The Training Classes are specifically designed for active job seekers.

Register now for skills to find the job you want.  Free Basic Job Readiness Computer Training Classes will focus on the basic computer skills needed by today's job applicant.  Classes will be every Wednesday in April from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Computer Training Room of South Brunswick Public Library.

Registration is required as space is limited. Register online at www.sbpl.info/calendar and click on the dates to register for each of the four classes that you plan to attend. Or call 732-329-4000,ext. 7286.

The Training Classes are specifically designed for active job seekers. In addition to basic computer training the class content will focus on job searching, resume and cover letter writing and contacting companies by e-mail with attached resumes.

Nel Koscinski, a trainer from Middlesex County College, will lead the series. This program is sponsored by the New Jersey State Library's Broadband Technology Opportunity Program (BTOP).

All classes will be taught at a basic user level and are each four hours long. The classes will be held on four Wednesdays in April:

April 6: Introduction to Microsoft Windows, which is basic information suited for someone with limited computer experience.

April 13: Internet Training, understanding website addresses, introduction to the major web search engines with an emphasis on job searches.

April 20: Microsoft Word, basic elements with emphasis on creating a resume and cover letter. 

April 27: Microsoft Outlook, to access electronic e-mail, proper usage of web based e-mail, e-mail etiquette, responding to job listings and online job applications.
