FEMA Opens Disaster Recovery Center in Middlesex County

Residents are encouraged to go to the center to find out what kind of aid they may be eligible for

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has opened a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in Middlesex County. The South Brunswick Office of Emergency Management is advising any resident who suffered property damage during Hurricane Irene to seek out the assistance of FEMA.

"The center will open each day at 8 a.m. and provide face-to-face assistance to those who suffered damage from Hurricane Irene," said South Brunswick Police Chief Raymond Hayducka.

The DRC is located in East Brunswick on Dunhams Corner Road adjacent to the South Brunswick border. Residents are encouraged by the township OEM to seek out answers for the different kinds of aid they may be eligible to receive.

The center will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., seven days a week, until further notice. Residents are asked to register before visiting the DRC.

There are two ways to register – log on to www.disasterassistance.gov, m.fema.gov or call FEMA's toll-free number, 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), or TTY 1-800-462-7585.

Both numbers are available from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
