“Ideal Dentistry” is a term we read about in dental text books, but rarely does it take into account the specific needs of individuals.  What might be “ideal” for one patient isn’t necessarily ideal for another.  We believe that all of our patients are individuals with specific and varying needs.  As an example, we may read in a text book that replacing a large filling with a crown is “ideal” treatment, but that is not always the case.  Many factors must be considered before deciding on an appropriate treatment plan for a particular patient.  What does the patient want?  Does the patient practice adequate home care to maintain the treatment once it is done?  Does the patient have any financial or time restraints that would make it difficult to proceed with the proposed treatment?  These are but a few of the questions that must be answered before deciding on an “appropriate” treatment plan.  We believe that “ideal dentistry” is highly individualized and varies from patient to patient.  We strive to provide you with the dental health care that is most appropriate for YOU!

We hope to improve our patient’s overall health and consequently enhance the quality of their life.

There is more and more research everyday supporting the relationship between oral health and systemic health.  Diabetes, cardiovascular disease and even some cancers may have some correlation with the health of your mouth.    It’s all about inflammation.  Current research indicates that the inflammation in your mouth, which is caused by bacteria (plaque), enters your bloodstream and produces enzymes that may cause additional inflammation throughout your body.  A dental cleaning removes the plaque and is one of the best and simplest things you can do to improve your overall health.  And let’s face it, when you are healthy you feel and look better, and the quality of your life will improve.

We will strive to change our patient’s perception of dentistry so that they will not only be appreciative of the care they receive, but will actually look forward to their next visit.

This is where it all started.  In 1980 we took exception to the portrayal of dentists as either buffoons or sadists.  As a new dentist, I didn’t want to be thought of that way and I knew that perception was a myth.  I didn’t become a dentist to hurt people; I became a dentist to help people!  And dental school was tough; I don’t think a “buffoon” would have made it through.  So we set out to set the public straight.  We relieve pain, we don’t cause it.  We create beautiful smiles that change people’s lives.  We help people obtain, and maintain, a healthy life style that can add years, and happiness to their lives.  And we do all of that in a comfortable, safe, relaxing and yes, fun environment.  Our patients really do look forward to their next visit with us and many pay us the nicest compliment possible; they refer their friends and relatives to our practice.

Some of you reading this are probably thinking, “yeah right! Who looks forward to going to the dentist”?  To those people I offer this challenge, try us!  Come by and visit and tour our office.  I’m confident that if you do, once you see our practice and meet our doctors and staff, you too will look forward to coming back to see us again.
