Toys Can Be A Health Hazard As Well - What You Should Be Aware Of

Certain toys can be dangerous for your child's health

A US Public Interest Research Group is actively stressing that people buying toys, especially during this holiday season, KNOW what they are buying. Many hazardous toys can STILL be found on the shelves, even though strides have been taken in recent years to eliminate that concern.

Small parts can cause choking hazards, and some toys contain toxic chemicals such as "phthalates" or "lead."

Don't buy toys based on the best bargain, the most popular item or simply a child's desire. Do what you can to research these toys BEFORE you purchase something that can cause them to choke, or have a dangerous chemical rub off on their skin or in their mouths!

This group has issued a list of concerning toys and the reasons for these concerns and I am attaching this article done by Wedb MD for you to review.

Toy shopping can clearly come with health concerns and you need to be conscious if a toy can be too loud to harm their hearing, contains dangerous chemicals, or has small parts that can come apart and possibly cause choking if swallowed. Read the package for age suggestions. Read the package for all warnings for that product/toy. Use your best judgment and decide if that toy is truly a good fit for your child.

If you have any reservations, it is always better to go with your gut instinct, do not buy the toy, and choose something else that seems safer and will make you feel more comfortable.

Happy Toy Shopping everyone!
