Sardar Patel Jayanti 2013 was celebrated in New York on October 27, 2013.  During the celebration, Life time achievement award was honored to Mr. Piyush Patel, business entrepreneur from Tri-State and Gujarat Gaurav award 2013 to Dr. Tushar Patel for their extra ordinary achievement and services to the Indian community.

Bruhad Gujarati Samaj organized Sardar Patel Jayanti celebration in New York by displaying movie on “The Iron Man of India” and patriotic and spiritual songs by legendary artists Amit Mehta and Sunita Kapoor.  The award ceremony followed by the movie and few patriotic songs sung by the wonderful singers.   Selection was made for Indian origin personalities for extra ordinary achievements and their significant contributions in community services.  The award winner selection was based on their real curriculum of history of services with unbiased unanimous opinion of committee members and community leaders.  Presidents and community leaders of several Indian Associations and Organizations were endorsed to these awards with standing ovation in presence of Assembly Member David Weprin and South Asian community Leader Dilip Chauhan.

Mr. Piyush Patel, successful business entrepreneur and visionary who is a classic embodiment of the phrase, "Nothing succeeds like success".  With ventures spread across various industries like software, oil-drilling, restaurants, electronics, farms, theater, chemicals and hotels, he draws his strength from the diversity of his investments and the people he works with.   Mr. Patel is a Chairman of Federation of Indian Seniors Association of North America (FISANA), Chairman of ICS of Union, Chairman of South Gujarat Patel Pragati Mandal and Grand Patrons of Indian Health Camp of NJ.   He perfected the art of growing with simple strategies and identifying opportunities, both within the existing business as well as outside of it.

Dr. Tushar Patel is from South Brunswick, New Jersey and his continued dedication, selfless service to the Indian Community, a strong helping hand to needy people in communities throughout New Jersey, and excellent coordination in the field of health care is beyond the call.    As a President of the non-profit organization since 2006, Dr. Patel is a master mind in organizing and conducting health fairs to serve people without medical insurance to provide them basic medical, dental and eye screening free of charge.   His dedication and thirst to keep Indian culture keep alive in abroad and serving seniors by actively involved in organizing social, cultural and health fair events is well known for the past more than 10 years.  He continued to provide exceptional leadership and professional expertise in various organizations for Indian community such as Indian Health Camp of NJ – IHCNJ, Indo-American Cultural Foundation of Central Jersey – IACFNJ, Global Organization of People of Indian Origin – GOPIO Central Jersey Chapter from youngsters to seniors.  He is successful professional working for Federal Government for past 20 years and currently serving as Chief of Health care Quality Management in the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Washington, DC.   Dr. Patel was the first Indian origin who received Department of Justice, Attorney General Volunteer Service Award in 2012 for his excellent community volunteer services. 

Many other community leaders like former president of Gujarati Samaj Jagdish Patel, Jyotindra Patel, Mukund Mehta, Navin Shah, Khandubhai Patel were honored by appreciation plaques including the Pdt. Sanjeev Sharma, Mr. Veeru Patel president of South Gujarat Patel Pragati mandal and Vice President of Gujarat Vikas Munch Shri Mukesh Kashiwala.  Other community Leaders from various organizations attended this event to conclude Ms. Indu Gajwani, Labhubhai Upadhyay, Dahyabhai Patel, Kantibhai Patel, Rekha Trivedi, Dharini Trivedi, Harshad Patel (Present president of Gujarati Samaj) R. D. Patel, Chairman Board of Trustee GSNY, Pinakin Pathak, Deepak Trivedi and Dhruti Amin from AIANA.    In addition,  Divyesh Tripathi, Anil Patel, Mayur Trivedi, Gopi Udeshi, Asha Dharawat, Rohitbhai Joshi, Girdharbhai Patel, Padma Mehta and Balkrishna provided their volunteer services on this day.

Pinakin Pathak is a successful business entrepreneur who has multiple businesses throughout the U.S. and overseas to include wholesale distributor of marbles, granites, shower doors, sinks, men and women designer clothing and online items.  He is actively involved in supporting community activities such as March of Dimes, AIANA, Indo-American Cultural Foundation of Central Jersey, Brahmin Samaj of NJ and many others.  Dhrutika Amin is a writer with her book Panchat published in 2012 and also writing for Chitralekha and PhoolChhab.  Kalpana Mehta is involved with March of Dimes.  Deepak Trivedi works for Department of State and also very actively involved with Chaalo Gujarat in 2008 and 2012.  Falguni Pandya, small business owner and daughter of veteran journalist Chandrakant Trivedi.

 The movie on Sardar Patel was a courtesy of Gujarat Foundation's President Kaushik Amin and Vice President of Gujarat Vikas Munch Mr.Mukesh Kashiwala.  The event was supported by media sponsors like TV Asia, Sahara TV, PTV, ITV, Hi India, Gujarat Darpan, Tiranga, Divya Bhaskar, Gujarat Times, Deshi Talk and NRI Tribune.

The award winner selection was based on their real curriculum of history of services with unbiased unanimous opinion of committee members and community leaders of state of New York.
