Taubenslag Productions, a local children’s theater company, has applied for a $250,000 grant from Chase as part of a newly launched program, Mission Main Street Grants.  Taubenslag Productions must submit a questionnaire outlining a business plan that will result in growth of the business and receive at least 250 votes to be eligible for a grant. Customers, fans and community members can show support for Taubenslag Productions by voting at https://www.missionmainstreetgrants.com/business/detail/114606 using Facebook Connect. The voting deadline is November 15, 2013 and grant recipients will be selected by expert panelists.

“Taubenslag Productions is striving to grow and expand our business which includes plans to find a permanent rehearsal and theater space in Middlesex County so we can produce more live theater to entertain families and offer more programs and classes for kids”, said Michael Taubenslag, owner and director of Taubenslag Productions.  Mr. Taubenslag continues, “All of our professional touring shows are original productions, created like a Broadway-style musical with an interactive element to get the audience involved, making it more FUN and entertaining.  Our other programs such as our THEATERWEEK school workshop and our summer Theater Camp at Middlesex County College are specifically designed to build a child’s self-esteem and confidence through Theater Arts.  Parents and schools are looking for our types of programming that not only instills a love for live theater but also provides a safe haven of acceptance and creativity.

Through Mission Main Street Grants, Chase will award $3 million to small business across America. All businesses that apply for a grant and meet the eligibility requirements will receive a special advertising offer from Premier Sponsor, Google. In addition, the 12 grant recipients will be eligible to receive a trip to Google for an exclusive small business marketing workshop with Google experts and a Google Chromebook Pixel laptop.

The application for Mission Main StreetSM Grants includes how the small business is involved with the community.  Mr. Taubenslag believes this is one of the strengths his business can showcase on their grant application.  He explains, “Finding permanent space in Middlesex County would not only allow us to employ more local talent but we could also bring more business into the community.  Besides finding space, we also want to expand our community service efforts by helping to fund THEATERWEEK for underprivileged schools in the area and we’d like to create a scholarship program for our summer Theater Camp”.  In fact this summer we are entering our 25th year of Theater Camp at MCC so we have been in this community a long time.  This grant would be a fantastic way to celebrate our anniversary!”

But to be considered, Taubenslag Productions must first get the 250 Facebook votes needed.  Consumers can show support by voting for Taubenslag Productions at https://www.missionmainstreetgrants.com/business/detail/114606 using Facebook Connect before the voting deadline on November 15, 2013.

Mr. Taubenslag is enthusiastic about possibly moving on into the selection phase.   “Our motto for kids in our programs is ‘When you try your best, you can do ANYTHING’, and we’re trying our best to get the Facebook votes needed to be considered for this grant!  The grant money would be an unbelievable opportunity to help us execute all of our business plans.  We hope to continue our mission of positively impacting the lives of children by boosting their self-esteem with theater education and performing arts  and bring more live, interactive and FUN theater experiences to entertain families across New Jersey.

The 12 grant recipients will be announced in January 2014.
