A graduate of Douglass College, Behrend attended the Lincoln Center Institute for Arts in Education for 14 years. She taught at the Newark Children’s Museum and for 20 years was an Art Education Specialist in the South Brunswick elementary schools. Behrend has been awarded First Prize for Pastel in the Middlesex County Senior Art Exhibition each year since 2004 and was twice recipient of an Honorable Mention in the New Jersey State Senior Art Exhibition in the Professional category. Her work has been shown in galleries and other venues throughout Central New Jersey. Behrend has curated exhibits and is presently chairperson of the South Brunswick Arts Commission.

Read to a therapy dog, even if you think maybe you don't read that well yet. Our therapy dogs are eager to listen to beginner readers with challenges including autism spectrum disorder. Reading to therapy dogs can help anyone that has difficulty reading to gain confidence and build their literacy skills. Registration required.
