42 Riva Avenue, South Brunswick, 6:30 p.m. Elijah’s Promise Culinary School will be hosting their Farm to Table event at the EARTH Center, home to Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Middlesex County. The Farm to Table series, focuses on supporting locally grown produce, which reduces pollution created by shipping food long distances.  This Elijah’s Promise event is the kick-off event for their "Eat Local Challenge", in which they ask residents to shop for food grown within a100 mile radius of New Brunswick.  Buying Jersey Fresh produce also encourages growers to continue farming and preserving open space.  The guest chef for the evening will be Chef Claudette Herring of Red Bank’s Via 45.  Attendees will first tour the EARTH Center’s gardens, then experience the culinary techniques used to prepare seasonal produce.  Some of the food prepared for tasting will be harvested from the EARTH Center’s vegetable garden.
