The Week Ahead in South Brunswick
Events, classes, lectures and things to keep your eye on for the week of May 16 to May 20.
- Tuesday: The Senior I Love. 12:30 p.m. South Brunswick Senior Center. South Brunswick second grade students have written real-life and heartwarming stories about a senior citizen they love, which were judged by a panel of township seniors. The winners will read their essay and receive awards at the Senior Center tomorrow afternoon.
- Tuesday: Get Organized at the South Brunswick Public Library. 7 p.m. Organizing superstar Jamie Novak comes to the SBPL to offer simple steps to organize your home or office. The humorous speaker is best known for her television appearances on HGTV, QVC, and NBC's iVillage as well as articles in countless national magazines including Everyday with Rachel Ray, Real Simple, and Women's Day. She currently serves as the home blogger for Martha Stewart's Whole Living Daily. Registration is required online or at the Information Desk. Seating is limited to the first 100 people.
- Wednesday: Documentary Film Series at the SBPL. 1:30 p.m. The library continues its ongoing showcase of top international films with the documentary "Chihuly Short Cuts," a film about renowned glass artist Dale Chihuly. This compilation documents a decade of his personal odyssey and an intimate guide through some of his most well-known projects including "Chihuly Over Venice" and "Chihuly in the Light of Jerusalem."
- Thursday: Read to a Therapy Dog at the SBPL. 5 p.m. Kids who need a little help with reading will realize numerous benefits from this program. Therapy dogs are eager to listen to beginner readers with challenges, including autism spectrum disorder. Reading to therapy dogs can help anyone that has difficulty reading to gain confidence and build their literacy skills.
- Friday: Get your tickets for pro wrestling action at South Brunswick High School this weekend. Former stars from the WWE and ECW will be putting on a show for the entire family on Saturday to raise money for the SBPAL. But don't wait to buy tickets at the door, get your tickets ahead of time so you won't be left out in the cold. Tickets are currently on sale at Pierre's Resturant, Confectionately Yours, and over the internet at sbpalstore.com.
