South Brunswick Family Fun Festival on Saturday

South Brunswick Public Library-hosted event will feature fun, games and prizes.

There will be a world of things to do this Saturday at Reichler Park on Ridge Road in Monmouth Junction as South Brunswick Public Library hosts its Family Fun Festival from noon to 4 p.m. as part of its summer reading program, One World, Many Stories. Admission is free to the event, and everyone is invited to participate.

At the event, children can try their hand at the prize wheel, where they can answer questions about different countries from around the world to win prizes. Children can also enjoy crafts, face painting, balloon animals, temporary tattoos and Mendhi (a temporary tattoo process that uses the ingredient, henna). There will also be performances of Chinese, Irish and Jazz dance and Bollywood music, said Susanne Chan, head of children’s services at the library.

Attendance at the seventh annual event is expected to top 1,000 people, Chan said.

At least 24 local businesses and non-profits are expected to be represented at the festival, with booths hosted by local preschools, dance schools, art studio, township offices and the Princeton Healthcare System, Chan said.  South Brunswick Patch will also have a table at the event.

There won’t be food sold at the festival, but guests are invited to bring in their own food and picnic at the park, Chan said.
