South Brunswick Dunkin’ Donuts Gives Halloween a New Image

Area Dunkin’ Donuts gives Halloween a new image when senior citizens enjoy the treats and tips, not tricks, featured on Oct. 29 at the Day of Discovery Annual Outreach FORUM.

The donut shop in the South Brunswick big box shopping center on Route 1 North is donating their special Halloween treat bags to the seniors who attend this fun, filled day at the Senior Center.  

When you include free lunches, door prizes and handouts - add Imagination Stations with “In a Kaleidoscope;”  discover new ways the sight impaired can access a web site with the DeVry University “Geek Squad;” learn about the role recipes play in, “Continuing Cultural Conversation” and story telling in, “Living Legacies,” marvel at the jewelry made from metals, crystals, beads and buttons (you may even want to buy some), or produce a collaborative sculpture form recycled objects - the day becomes a maze of unusual participatory experiences.

This annual Outreach FORUM falling on the Halloween weekend provides a great opportunity to engage parents and the older population in a wide variety of exploration sessions that are fun and informative AND take home their own “Trick or Treat” bag of goodies.

Throughout the day at resource tables and exhibits, service providers will provide information ranging from Accessibility, Health, Wellness and Safety, Housing and Home Maintenance, Cultural Events and Programs; Transportation to Money Matters. Tips ranging from selling or buying a home; finding that special person to clean the house or clean it out; the handyman to fix faucets or change light bulbs or batteries; how to travel the new county M1shuttle bus, and how to get to the bus stop; to discount tickets for area events, to snow plowing and lawn care services and much more.

The morning panel will feature experts helping South Brunswick to create a, “seamless mobility plan,” to address the Transportation challenges the Township faces.  Afternoon round table discussions offer everyone the chance to voice their concerns, raise questions and make suggestions. Emphasis is on participation.

The day will end with the awarding of door prizes and the completed clothesline of the work created in the Imagine Stations.

Held at the South Brunswick Senior Center, the doors open at 9:15 a.m. and runs to 2:30 p.m. Sponsored by the Aging in Place PARTNERSHIP, the Outreach FORUM is free and open to the public of all ages.
