Brush is a material that is mandated for recycling.
This means that brush is not permitted in the landfill and therefore cannot be collected with the garbage. Normally residents must deliver brush at the Township’s brush drop off site.
However, the South Brunswick Township has announced that it will have a curbside brush collection beginning Sept. 30. Materials must be at the curb (not in the street) by 6:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 30, in order to ensure collection.
Residents are asked to be patient, as the collection township-wide may take more than one week.
Items that will be picked up include brush, branches, shrubs, bushes that are less than 4-feet in length and less than 5-inches in diameter. They must be securely tied in bundles less than 50 pounds.
Bundles should be placed curbside, and not in the street. Twigs and small branches that are less than 4-feet may be placed in a can. No bags will be accepted.
Residents choosing the delivery option for recycling may drop off brush (less than 5" in diameter) at the convenience center located behind Sondek Park on East New Road.
The area is open Monday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. The area closed on township holidays.
Sondek Park is located on New Road near the intersection of Friendship Road. For directions visit the Township’s web site (www.sbtnj.net) or call the Recycling Department at 732-329-4000, extension 7274.
