McDonald's Will Help Teach Nutrition

New Jersey's McDonald's restaurants will offer grants to groups that want to teach nutrition.

McDonald's Restaurants in the New York Tri-State area want to do a good deed for local organizations.

Restaurants in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut are launching the McDonald's Nutrition Network - offering local organizations the chance to apply to McDonald's for grants to provide grassroots nutrition programs.

The initiative is part of a corporate commitment to offer improved nutritious choices and wholesome options at McDonald's restaurants, and to teach children how to make good food choices while using recommended food groups.

"As local business owners, we are committed to giving back to the communities we serve and this program helps us bring McDonald's redoubled focus on nutrition to our customers," said Anthony Scari, president of the McDonald's New York Tri-State Owner/Operators Association. "We look forward to celebrating those organizations whose projects align best with McDonald's mission to encourage wholesome eating."

The restaurants' goal is to give out grants that will make a significant impact on nutrition awareness in the community. Organizations can apply through this website

This year, five organizations will be selected and each winning organization will be recognized at a community presentation.

Completed applications should be mailed to:  McDonald's Owners/Operators Association; Attention: MNN; PO Box 280; Little Falls, NJ 07424.

The submission deadline is June 1.
