Cinderella Jr. at Hammarskjold Middle School

The Hammarskjold Middle School Drama Club will present "Cinderella Jr.” on Thursday, March 17, and Friday, March 18. The production is an adaptation of the Disney animated film and focuses on poor Cinderella, who is constantly mistreated by her wicked stepmother and stepsisters. Once she’s denied the chance to go to the Royal Ball, she gets a little help from her mice friends and Fairy Godmother and eventually falls in love.

This musical is good for all ages and begins at 7 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center at Hammarskjold.

Friday and Saturday, March 18-19:

Choreographer Showcase

Women's Choreographers' Showcase, hosted by the YWCA of Princeton, will be held at the Yvonne Theater at Rider University at 2083 Lawrence Rd. in Lawrence Township. The event is a showcase for local, professional dancers over age 40 who are interested in choreographing and performing. For more details, call Christine Colosimo at (609) 497-2100 extension 332. Performances will be 8 p.m. on Friday, March 18, and 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday, March 19. Tickets are $25, and $15 for seniors and students.

Friday-Sunday, March 18-20

The King has Entered East Brunswick.

Come by the East Brunswick Cultural Arts Center for "All the Kings Women” by New Jersey playwright Luigi Jannuzzi. The show will be performed by Playhouse 22 on Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. The piece is a series of vignettes, monologues, and short scenes about women moving in to, out of, and around the life of the King of Rock and Roll himself, Elvis Presley.

The Sound of Music

Students at Villa Victoria Academy at 376 W. Upper Ferry  Rd. in Ewing Township will present the beloved Rodgers and Hammerstein musical “The Sound of Music.” Shows will be at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 18, and Saturday, March 19; and 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 20. Tickets are $12 per person and are available on a first-come, first served basis. For more details or to order tickets, visit the Villa Victoria website.

Friday, March 18

BINGO Night for Adults with Special Needs

The Pioneer Club for South Brunswick's disabled adult residents is hosting a BINGO night on Friday, March 18 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the South Brunswick Senior Center. Light refreshments will be served. Transportation is not available. There is no charge for this event.

Choral Concert

Under the direction of Professor of Music and Director of Choral Music G. Roberts Kolb, the Hamilton College (N.Y.) Choir and College Hill Singers will present a selection of both sacred and secular works ranging from the Renaissance to the present day at 7:30 p.m. at Nassau Presbyterian Church at 61 Nassau St. in Princeton Borough. The concert is free and open to the public.

Saturday, March 19

Victorian Tea

The Kingston Presbyterian Church at 4565 Route 27, in Kingston, will host an authentic Victorian Tea on Saturday, March 19 at 3 p.m.  It will be preceded by an historical program of songs, poetry and living history in a costumed presentation of eighteenth century tea lore.
 Stacy Roth of History on the Hoof is an historical interpreter and museum educator who combines story telling, music and artifacts in unique presentations.

Tickets to the tea are $10.  Harpist Nancy Beal will entertain at the Victorian tea following the free eighteenth century program.

Purim Celebration

Chabad of North and South Brunswick will observe the Jewish holiday of Purim with a celebration on Saturday night, March 19, at 8 p.m. at the Chabad House, 4100 Route 27 in South Brunswick.  The celebration will include a Megillah reading, Purim Masquerade, music and themed food. Sunday, March 20

Poetry Reading at the South Brunswick Public Library

Poets Diane Lockward and Jessica DeKoninck will be reading selected works during the South Brunswick Arts Commission's Sunday afternoon Poetry Readings at the South Brunswick Public Library.  The program starts at 2:00 p.m. in Program Room 2 (Octagonal Room) featuring some of the region's most highly regarded poets, followed by an open reading. All are welcome to attend. The readings are free, although a donation of a non-perishable food item to be given to the South Brunswick Food Pantry is encouraged. Purim Italiano 

Chabad Jewish Center of South Brunswick will present their Annual Purim Celebration creating Jewish excitement and fun for the whole family. The entire Jewish community is invited regardless of affiliation or background. This year’s Purim around the world theme is Purim Italiano, featuring Megillah Reading at 4 p.m. with a simultaneous slide show.

Come dressed up for the Masquerade Contest in the costume of your choice. There will be a delicious Purim Italian Buffet, including hamantashen, cotton candy, and many other treats. Fun and entertainment for the entire family will include an exotic bird show, olive oil making, stained glass art and lots of fun games at the Venetian Carnevale.

The event is Sunday, March 20, 4 p.m., at Pierre’s Ballroom, 582 Georges Road in Monmouth Junction. Adults $15, Children $10.

 Outer Space Purim Party

On Sunday, March 20, at 4 p.m. the East Brunswick Chabad is having a big purim party at the 4-H club on  Cranbury and Fern Roads. The theme is 'outer space.'

Grease is the Word

The State Theater in New Brunswick will present "Grease," Sunday, at 3 p.m.  The one that you want is back! "Grease," Time Magazine's 2007 pick for number one musical of the year, is rocking across the country in this new production direct from Broadway. Take a trip to a simpler time of poodle skirts, drive-ins, and T-birds.

Bad boy Danny and the girl next door Sandy fall in love all over again to the tune of your favorite songs: Summer Nights, Greased Lightnin', and We Go Together.
