Fun Early June Activities for Kids

Looking for something to do with the kids this weekend? South Brunswick Patch has a few ideas.

Saturday

  • , 10:30am–2:00pm, , 50 Deans Rhode Hall Road, Monmouth Junction. During this free event, parents can have an emergency ID card made for their child, complete with a fingerprint, photo and basic information. The event will offer other child safety and health activities, too. Registration is required. For more information call 732-329-4000, ext. 7469.
  • Free Kids Workshop, 9 a.m., Home Depot, 4095 US Highway 1 # 100, Monmouth Junction. Kids can come to the store the first Saturday of every month to build useful wood crafts like flower planters, picture frames and mail organizers. There’s no cost to participate and no registration is required. Phone 732-438-5987 for more information.
  • , 9 a.m.–12 p.m., , 144 Tices Lane, East Brunswick. Parents can drop off children aged infant through 13 years for three hours of supervised activity, including crafts, sports, games and fitness. The program is free to all members and is $10/child for non members. Call 732 257 4114 for more info.

Sunday

  • Annual Bike Ride for Amy, 8 a.m. (check in is at 7 a.m.), South Brunswick High School, 750 Ridge Road, Monmouth Junction. This event is sponsored by the Amy Feiman Behar Foundation and raises funds for early breast cancer detection for women without health insurance. The ride starts and ends at the high school.   • American Girl Extravaganza, 2 p.m., Barnes and Noble, North Village Shopping Center, 869 Route 1 South, North Brunswick. Kids can come dressed as their favorite American Girl and enjoy games, activities, food and prizes. For children in the first grade and up. Children must be accompanied by a parent.
  • Animal Fair: Birds, Beasts and Bugs in Children’s Book Illustrations, 12-5 p.m., The Roger Duvoisin Gallery, Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Art Museum, 71 Hamilton Street, New Brunswick. This exhibit explores how animals have been depicted in the illustrations of children’s literature. Free admission for all visitors on the first Sunday of every month.
