Widespread flooding is currently taking place in the Philadelphia area and moving toward New York.

The National Weather Services has issued a flash flood watch for the area, including Mercer, Middlesex and Western Monmouth counties, through this afternoon.

Widespread rainfall amounting in 1-2 inches of accumulation are expected to move through the area this morning. Later this afternoon, rainfall amounts are expected to reach 3-4 inches, within a 2-3 hour time frame.

Currently, the storm is hitting the Philadelphia area, including Salem, Gloucester and Cumberland counties. Widespread flooding is hitting major highways, and the storm is moving north, according to CBS 3 Philadelphia.

The National Weather Service warns water in small streams and creeks may leave their banks and cause flooding on roadways.
