5 Things to do in South Brunswick this Weekend

A list of events from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon.

It's Friday and the weekend is finally here.  For those looking for something to do in and around South Brunswick this weekend, we offer five suggestions for activities that are close by and easy on the wallet.

  • Friday and Saturday Evening: South Brunswick High School presents "Guys and Dolls."  Come support the extremely talented students in the SBHS Drama Club as they present the classic musical.  Tickets can be purchased at the door.  Show starts at 7:30 p.m.
  • Saturday Morning: Native Plant Workshop at the EARTH Center.  Middlesex County’s Agricultural Extension Office will present a garden workshop from 10 a.m. to noon at the EARTH Center in Davidson’s Mill Pond Park, 42 Riva Ave, South Brunswick. The topic presented will be “Native Plant Landscaping." The fee for the workshop is $20. Attendees will learn where to find native plants, species to attract desirable wildlife and some of the best choices for our area. This practical workshop is designed for the beginner or intermediate gardener looking to minimize environmental impact.
  • Saturday Morning: Brunswick Acres Elementary School Yard Sale. Support the Brunswick Acres PTO at this huge yard sale event with table after table of hidden finds and treasures.  Sale runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Brunswick Acres.
  • Saturday and Sunday: Lions Club Circus.  The Zerbini Family Circus returns to South Brunswick to put on a family friendly show featuring a variety of animal acts at Crossroads South Middle School.  The circus will raise funds for the Lions Club programs, which returns all profits to the community by assisting numerous causes including aid to the visually impaired, school scholarships, rescues squads, and eye exams and glasses for needy local residents. 
  • Sunday Afternoon: International Film Festival at South Brunswick Public Library.  The SBPL will present the Spanish film "The Secret in Their Eyes," which presents the story of a retired criminal court investigator who decides to write a novel based on a 25-year-old unresolved murder case.  Movie begins at 2 p.m. at the SBPL.
