Quidditch at SBHS, Project Graduation book, DVDs, video games and CD sale highlight weekend events in and around South Brunswick this weekend.

Friday

SBHS Quidditch Tournament, South Brunswick High School, 750 Ridge Rd, Monmouth Junction, 6:30 p.m.

Attention all sports enthusiasts and Harry Potter fans alike, both young and old! Quidditch Night is back by popular demand! Come see 8 teams of students and teachers competing for the SBHS Renaissance Club's Quidditch Cup playing the intercollegiate version of muggle quidditch.  Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans, deliciious non-alcoholic ButterBeer and other treats will be on sale.  Tickets are $5 at the door.  The event will be held on Friday, March 8 in the Main Gym at SBHS.  Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the main event starting at 7 p.m.

SBPL Puppeteers, South Brunswick Public Library, 110 Kingston Ln, Monmouth Junction, 4:30 p.m.

The SBPL Puppeteers meet once a week to practice for a puppet show that will be performed on May 10.  The show will be aimed at grades K-4.
Puppeteers must in in grades 5-12 in order to be eligible.  They must attend the first practice and plan to attend all practices as well as the show.  All puppeteers must be enthusiastic and enjoy being silly.

South Brunswick High School Project Graduation is sponsoring a Used Book Sale on Saturday, March 9 from 9 am to 3 pm at South Brunswick High School in the Red Cafeteria.  There is a great selection of many popular titles in both paperback and hard cover books, along with DVDs, video games and CDs.

  • All Books:  $.50 - $1.50
  • Small, thin romance type books 4 for $1.00
  • Reasonably priced, used electronic games, DVDs & CDs
  • Teachers with ID can get a bag full of books for $5.00

Buy some great books while supporting Project Graduation, which provides an all-night, tobacco, alcohol and substance free celebration for all graduates.

Cranbury Craft Show, The Cranbury School, 23 N Main St, Cranbury, 10 a.m.

The Cranbury Craft Show is a juried show featuring the work of 100-plus artisans from all over the Northeast. The crafts include glasswork, floral designs, toys, photography, fine art, woodworking, adult and children’s clothing, pottery, jewelry, and much more.

Join Dan for an insightful walk around the land to demystify the “wall of green” surrounding us. He will teach you to identify many plants revered in the herbal traditions for healing ailments, as well as how to forage for nutritious wild food directly from the land. We will sample the wild plant wonders Nature guides us to, and focus on methods to use and prepare them. Gain the skills and confidence necessary to utilize the countless organic, fresh, local and free plant resources Nature continually provides.
